How far in advance should I order a cake?
Standard orders need at least 4 days' notice. Rush / short-notice orders are considered case by case and carry an extra fee. Acceptance isn't guaranteed, since it depends on how full the schedule is.
Can I send an inspiration image?
Yes, send a theme, colour palette or reference photo on WhatsApp and we'll design around it. Our order form also lets you attach an image, which we'll ask you to confirm was received in the WhatsApp chat.
Can I fully customise a cake?
Yes, every cake is designed and decorated around your brief. Nothing is picked from a fixed catalogue.
Do you offer delivery?
Pickup is the default. Delivery is available case by case, particularly for cakes that need extra careful handling (like wedding cakes), for an extra fee.
Where are you located?
We're based at 27 Tillers Green, Summer Greens, Cape Town. Pickup is any day, 9am to 6pm. Special arrangements can be made outside these hours.
What flavours are available?
Vanilla, Chocolate, Banana, Strawberry, Lemon, Red velvet, Carrot, Fruit cake, Chocolate orange, Chocolate mint. Other flavours available by special request. Fillings include Buttercream, Lemon curd, Strawberry compote, Salted caramel, Blueberry compote, Cream cheese, Chocolate sauce / ganache.
How does payment work?
A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking, no later than 5 days before your collection date. The remaining balance is due on collection, or before. We accept EFT / bank transfer and Cash.
Can you make wedding cakes?
Yes, multi-tier wedding cakes designed around your colours, theme and flavours, from a 2-tier design serving 30+ up to a 3-tier design serving 60+.
Do you make children's themed cakes?
Yes, themed and character birthday cakes for kids are one of our most popular orders, with fondant sculpting and figurines available depending on the design.
Do you offer corporate cakes?
Yes — Thelma takes on corporate and office cake orders. There's no minimum order on cakes, but cupcakes, cakesicles and other small treat units follow our usual minimum order of a box of 12.
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
We cater for eggless and vegan customers. Let us know when you enquire so we can talk through options. Our kitchen does handle nuts, gluten, dairy, eggs, and cross-contact is possible.
