Who we are

Kukies Cakes is a home-based bakery at 27 Tillers Green, Summer Greens, Cape Town. We are the "responsible party" for the personal information described below. Contact: info@kukiescakes.co.za or084 683 3360.

What we collect, and why

• Order and enquiry details: your name, WhatsApp number, optional email address, event date, guest numbers, and design and dietary notes (which can include allergies). We use these only to quote for, bake, and deliver or hand over your order, and to reply to you.
• Messages you send us on WhatsApp, email, phone or social media, so we can answer your questions and keep a record of what was agreed.
• Payment records (such as EFT proof of payment) so we can confirm deposits and balances and meet our accounting obligations.

We only ask for information we need. Giving it to us is voluntary, but we can't quote or deliver without a name and contact number.

How the order form works

Our online order form does not send your answers to our website's servers. It builds a message in your browser, and you choose to send it to us on WhatsApp. Anything you type is only shared with us once you send that message. A photo you select for inspiration stays on your device until you send it to us in the chat yourself.

Cookies and third parties

This website does not use advertising cookies, and its fonts and images are hosted on our own site. There are two optional third-party services, and both stay off until you choose them:

• Google Analytics (GA4): if you click "Accept" on our cookie banner, Google Analytics sets cookies and records how you use the site (pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser) so we can see which pages are useful. If you decline, or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set and Google Analytics runs in a restricted, cookie-free mode: Google may still receive basic information that every website visit sends, such as the page address, your browser type and your IP address, but nothing is stored on your device. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer.
• Google Maps on our contact page: it stays blocked until you click "Load map", because Google may then set cookies and receive your IP address.

Both are covered byGoogle's privacy policy. Google may process data outside South Africa. Links to WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook take you to those services, which have their own policies.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We share it only where needed to fulfil your order (for example, a delivery driver gets your name, number and address) or where the law requires. WhatsApp, which we use to talk to you, is operated by Meta and may process messages outside South Africa.

How long we keep it

We keep order details for as long as needed to complete your order and handle any follow-up, and payment records for the period the law requires. Where we no longer need information, we delete it.

Keeping it safe

We keep order details on our own phone and devices, protected by passcodes, and limit who can see them. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Your rights

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You can also object to us processing it. Email info@kukiescakes.co.za and we'll respond promptly. If you aren't happy with how we handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) atenquiries@inforegulator.org.za orinforegulator.org.za.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and the date above.
